Challenge #190 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

Welcome back, friends!  We're so happy that you're here to play along with us this week.  It's a delight to us to see ALL the amazing projects you link with us week and week, and we really appreciate seeing how God has blessed each of you with such amazing talent.  Having you share all those great cards and projects with us is just a real treat for us, and we can't even begin to thank you enough.  We'd like to warmly welcome our new Guest Designer for the Month of July, the lovely and talented Joann Burton; as well as the sweet and crafty Virginia (Ginny) Maxam, who will be joining us as our newest Full-Time Design Team Member.  We're SO blessed to have them both with us, and we know they would sure enjoy having you stop by their blogs to say hello and welcome them.  Well, let's get started!  We have two more AMAZING sponsors again this week.

When we look at the background of this week’s focus verse, we find that it was written during a time when the nation of Israel had taken steps to turn back to the Lord.  The result was that Joel was able to tell them that instead of living with fear, they could have joy and gladness because the Lord was going to do great thing for them.  That is the way it always is for followers of the Lord. When we follow His clear teaching in the Bible and obey His leading, we will experience His blessing in our lives. In our world today, people in general are abandoning Biblical principles in favor of what is culturally or politically acceptable. This is the broad path that the Bible says leads to destruction. This makes it even more important for those who call themselves Christians to stand up for what is right and follow what the Bible teaches. God’s Word is the final authority for life and practice.

This does not give us an excuse to be unkind or deliberately antagonistic. The Bible says we are to speak the truth in love. We may disagree but that does not mean God’s command to love others does not still apply.   Just like a light in the window on a dark night draws the traveler home, we should live so that others are drawn to the Light we are showing. So, Christian, be loving but unwavering when it comes to standing up for truth and righteousness. God will surely bless you for it.          -Stephanie Wright

As always, you are welcome to save this week's free scripture/word art file to your computer, but are not required to use it in order to play along in our challenges.   We welcome you share your art with us; remembering that Anything Goes as long as it's family-friendly, and uses an encouraging or uplifting sentiment. This includes any type of altered or digital art (not just limited to cards).  You may link up to five (5) projects each week. The more you enter, the more you increase your odds of winning.  It is our desire that God's Word will be a blessing and encouragement to you each week. If you have any questions about the rules, be sure to read the complete list of rules under our page tab for "Challenge Rules".  Because our ultimate goal is to honor God, we have no other choice but to delete any entries that do not adhere to our guidelines.  Let us know if you have any questions, and thanks for your understanding and participation!

Challenge #189 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

Welcome back for another AWESOME challenge here this week at Word Art Wednesday.  Once again, we have TWO FABULOUS SPONSORS with us which means TWO GREAT PRIZES for YOU to win.  We are so grateful that you stop by each week to share your wonderful art with us, and we wish each of you the best of luck in the random draw.  You're all WINNERS in our book.  Thanks for sharing your talents with us.

Our word art for this week comes from Psalm 85:9, and again it is one of those verses that really needs to be read with the verses before and after it.  Apparently, these verses in Chapter 85 were written during a time involving some sort of political or financial setback in their land.  These verses (1-3) are reflecting on God's dealings in the past, and speaking of the distress of the present (v 4-7), and finally giving the reassurance of God's promised deliverance in the future (in v 8-13).  When we read our focus verse, we hear "Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land."  So, we know that God is promising salvation, and that it is close to those who fear Him.  Salvation will not come to those who shut Him out and deny Him.  God knows WHO will be saved, and WHEN they will be saved.  As our days on earth become fewer (and we come closer to His arrival), it is more important than ever to be CLOSE to Him (that's what the word nigh means).  By helping others to grow close to Him, we are fulfilling scripture, and drawing them closer to their salvation.  This is a wonderful promise from His Word, that WE can take part in.  By sharing His love with others, we can be part of them drawing closer to their promised salvation.  When He returns, glory WILL dwell in our land.  But until then, there will be dark and difficult times.  It's our job to share God's love and promise of salvation with others, and to be a part of His plan.  Praise God that He is always close to us, and that His salvation is close to those who fear Him.  What a joy to look forward to the days when there WILL be glory dwelling in our land.  Jesus IS coming!

Challenge #188 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

Welcome back everyone!  We are SO happy you've stopped by to play along with us again this week.  We have a great challenge for you again this week, and we're SO excited to see all the fabulous projects you share with us.  Let's get right to it.

Before we get into this week's scripture verse, I'd like to share the verse that comes just before it.  It really helps us understand the man being described in our focus verse.  Jeremiah 17:7 says, "Blessed is the man that trusteh in the LORD; and whose hope the LORD is".  So, before we hear his description, we understand that this man TRUSTS GOD, and places his complete hope in the Lord.  Then, our focus verse goes on to say, "For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."  It is saying that the man (person) who first places his trust and hope in God, will be likened unto a tree that is planted by the water.  We know that a tree (or a plant, or a person) needs water to grow, so being planted near water is a real benefit.  Then, it tells us that this tree (man) will spread out his roots by the river (meaning that this man will raise his family near the water).  This refers to the church (whether a traditional church or a home church, it is a place where the family (this man's roots) can be properly watered so that they can grow spiritually.  It also tells us that this man will not see when heat comes.  That simply means that when times get rough (the world "turns up the heat"), the man who is trusting in God doesn't need to worry because he knows that God has everything under control.  Next, it tells us that this man's leaves will be green.  We touched on this last week; explaining that when we raise our children for the Lord, they will "be green" (they will reflect God's glory, walk in integrity and truth, be obedient, happy and blessed).  Then, it says that the man who is trusting and hoping in the Lord, and is living continually near his source of water (growing spiritually), doesn't need to "be careful" or worry during times of drought.  This is talking about times of financial difficulty, health issues, or ANY hurdle the world may throw his way.  This man doesn't have to hide the water (or his money, etc.) away and hoard it during these times.  It says that this man can continue on during difficult times because he KNOWS that the Lord has everything under control; and this man can even have more children during the drought (difficult times) because he hopes in the Lord, and knows that the drought will pass.  Let me tell you, dear friends, our world is in a serious time of drought right now.  These are difficult times, and getting even more difficult as the days, months and years go by.  But as Christians, we don't have to worry about any of this.  We can be the man who trusts and hopes in the Lord, and is planted by the water, and who spreads out his roots, doesn't need to worry during the drought, and can continue doing what God has called him to do; completely knowing how it all ends, and rejoicing in it all.  NOTHING can, or should, EVER shake the Christian.  Our future is CERTAIN.  It's the future of the ones working so hard to shake us that we need to concern ourselves with, and pray for.  There are so many lost souls out there.  God knows who will be saved and who will not.  It's simply our job to share God's love with as many people as we can, and to let the world know that they don't have to freak out as our world comes to its difficult end.  The answers are all in Jesus Christ.  As mentioned, the very first part of this whole lesson was....."BLESSED IS THE MAN...."   That's us!  Please pray for, and share with all those you possibly can that they can also be that blessed man (woman, child, etc.) by simply coming to Jesus Christ, confessing their sinful condition, accepting His perfect sacrifice that He paid on the cross, and asking Him to be their Lord and Savior.  And for the men (fathers, grandfathers, husbands, brothers, uncles, etc.) who live this blessed life, be sure to say THANK YOU to them because their lifestyle isn't popular today.  But how wonderful to know that "BLESSED IS THE MAN......." who lives for Jesus Christ.

Challenge #187 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

Welcome back!  We're SO blessed to have you stop by each week to play along with us and share the wonderful words of Jesus Christ.  What a beautiful gift we have in the precious WORD OF GOD!  We were so grateful for all the kind and encouraging feedback you left regarding last week's post.  It's difficult to anticipate how these posts will be accepted; and I pray diligently that they will always be received in the manner in which they're intended; which is from a place of love and concern for lost souls, and growing/nurturing saved souls.  Thank you for your encouragement.  It means SO much.  Now, let's get started with this week's challenge.

Our scripture/word art for this week is Proverbs 20:7 which says "The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him."  Well, I guess the first question would be, "what is a JUST man"?  Well, it reaches back to Exodus 10:5-6 where God tells us that we are NOT to bow down to, or serve, any other god; and that those who do will be punished, and their children will be judged accordingly.  A just man is one who keeps God's commands, worships Jesus Christ (the ONE TRUE GOD) alone, and teaches his children to do the same.  There's been a lot of media coverage lately regarding the Duggar family from TLC's 19 Kids and Counting.  The world wants to rake this man (and his family) over the coals; and are accusing them of using Christianity to cover their iniquities. Nothing could be further from the truth.  As Christians, we understand (as the Duggars do) that ALL OF US ARE SINNERS, and that we are all going to make mistakes.  The whole difference is that as Christians, when we confess our sins to God, He is faithful and just (there's that word again) to forgive us.  Being "just" means that we are guided by truth, reason and fairness.  I believe that Jim Bob Duggar IS a "just man".  I also believe that his son, Josh Duggar, is a "just man".  As I've said before, I know that I sure wouldn't want my sins posted in tabloids, and talked about on the news, etc. Yikes!  We are responsible for our actions, and there are consequences for our sins; but PRAISE GOD, we can be forgiven.  As we look forward to celebrating Father's Day, we need to give thanks for the men God has placed in our lives.  Even if you had a father who was "less than perfect", he is still the father God gave you.  Be grateful for this man, and remember that he is a sinner - in need of forgiveness, and in need of a Savior.  I'm far more worried about the men (people) out there whose sins are not necessarily known, but are left not being confessed and not being forgiven.  I urge you NOT to be quick to judge others.  Remember that all of us are sinful, and that the most important thing is that we come before God with a repentant heart, asking forgiveness, and seeking the salvation and eternal life that ONLY He can give.  This verse also tells us that a just man walketh in his integrity, and his children are blessed after him.  If we are honest, the proof of being "a just man" also shows in how our children live - especially when they are grown.  When I see wholesome, God-fearing, obedient children (and adult children) who are living a blessed and abundant life in Christ; it becomes obvious that you're doing something right.  Don't focus on the mistakes others make (or even ourselves for that matter), but focus on coming before God, confessing our sins, accepting Him as Lord and Savior, and sharing that with our children (and others) so that they can walk in their integrity as well.  The world will NEVER understand this, so don't expect them to.  God's Word tells us (in 1 Corinthians 2:14 and many other verses) that the ways of Christians (and God's Word in general) are "foolishness" to them.  Don't be too surprised when you hear that "foolishness" spewing out of their ignorant mouths (and, oh boy, has there ever been A LOT of foolishness spewing out of the worldly people's mouths about the Duggar situation).  We can only be responsible for ourselves, pray for the lost, and be quick to forgive.  The world won't understand when we, as Christians, are forgiving of sin because again, it's of God; and therefore is foolishness to them.  I encourage you to not worry about that; but to ALWAYS concern yourself ONLY with the things of God so that you will enjoy walking in integrity, and your children after you.
